Big Bend. Named for the northern bend the rio grande makes in west texas. Instead of heading south to mexico, the river decided to stay in the USA. This park is so cool. It has its own mountain range, no other park can boast that. The chihuahuan desert is a marvel in itself.
Chisos Mtns. They call it the forest in the sky. At over 7000 ft higher than the surrounding desert floor it is the only habitable part of the park for most of the summer.

dark sky are disappearing
Orion the hunter. Dark sky is becoming a thing of the past. Notice light pollution. It is perhaps the most significant pollution that we can actually do away with. We aren't going to stop burning fossil fuels anytime soon. We are not gong to stop using water or air soon either. But we can do away with extra light at night. Our ancestors did with out it, so can we. So start noticing all the extra night lights and then turn them off.
